After a long wait, when Rockstar Games announced their next masterpiece, the entire gaming world went into a frenzy. Especially, the opportunity to return to the ever-familiar neon-lit streets of Vice City has increased the excitement of the gaming community several times. This time, the main attraction will be Lucia and Jason—around whom the main story of the game will revolve.
Simply put, the gameplay of GTA 6 is going to be much more realistic and detailed than traditional open-world games. From graphics to artificial intelligence (AI), Rockstar is bringing changes in every aspect that can change the definition of gaming.
Character Switching
The switching system between Lucia and Jason will now be much more seamless.
Instant Change: You can switch from one character to another without the long loading times like in previous games.
Cooperation: If you take control of one during a mission, the AI (artificial intelligence) will automatically help the other. You can also give them specific commands if you want.
Improved AI and Social Media Integration
NPCs in the game will now be more intelligent.
Realistic Behavior: If you commit a crime or do something strange, the people around you will react. Some will be scared; some will take out their phones and start recording videos.
In-Game Social Media: As seen in the trailer, the game will have a robust social media feed. Many of your actions can go ‘viral’ there, which will add a new dimension to the gaming experience.
Improved Stealth & Combat
The fight system and stealth techniques are now much more natural.
Prone/Crawl: For the first time, players will be able to move while lying on the ground or crawling, which is very useful for stealth missions.
Tactical Fight: Using the environment as a weapon during fights and gun recoil (shake) will be much more realistic. Even the movement of necklaces or clothing will follow physics.
Graphics & Realism
The biggest talk about GTA 6’s graphics is its high-performance engine, which brings the environment of Vice City to life. The use of water and lighting, in particular, is bound to impress gamers.
Water Physics
Rockstar Games has put a special emphasis on ocean waves and water this time.
Real-time simulation: Ocean waves are no longer just animations but will change in real-time based on wind speed and boat movement.
Surfing and diving: The clarity and depth of the water are so advanced that you can see small particles and marine life moving very clearly while diving underwater. The scene of water splashing or water being absorbed by clothes will also be very delicate.
Day-Night Cycle and Lighting
A new lighting system has been added to bring Vice City’s neon lights and sun-drenched beaches to life.
Global Illumination: When sunlight hits a building, its reflection will be perfectly visible on people on the street or on car windows. This is called the ultimate in ‘ray-tracing’ technology.
Nighttime Vice City: At night, the city’s artificial lights, such as store signs or car headlights, will mix with fog or rain to create a strangely magical atmosphere. This is not only to look good, but the weather in the game will also affect the visibility of your missions.
The Evolution of Vice City
The difference between the classic Vice City of 2002 and the new Vice City of 2025-26 will be stark. Rockstar Games has put the most emphasis on making this map not just bigger, but also more alive.
Old vs. New Vice City (Map Comparison)
The old Vice City was originally a small city consisting of two islands. But the new map will be a large area modeled after the state of Florida (known as Leonida in the game).
Size: The new map will be several times larger than the previous Vice City. It will not only have the city but also a vast wetland (Everglades), small islands, and mountainous areas.
Environmental diversity: Where before there were only beaches and cities, now there will be dense forests, highways, and rural towns.
Dynamic world: The old map was static, but in the new map, you will notice changes in the environment (such as tides or storms) as the weather changes.
Interior Locations (Detailed Interiors)
The biggest regret in previous games in the GTA series was that most of the buildings could not be entered. That limitation is being overcome in GTA 6.
Shopping Malls and Stores: This time, it has been revealed from leaked information that it may be possible to enter more than 70% of the buildings in the game. This will include shopping malls, restaurants, laundries, and small shops.
Apartments and Clubs: Not only during missions, but also during normal roaming, you will be able to enter many apartments or nightclubs, which will make the gameplay more realistic.
Robbery and Interaction: Since you can enter many more stores, the opportunity for petty theft (robbery) will also increase greatly.
System Requirements
There’s been a lot of speculation among gamers about how powerful your hardware needs to be to play GTA 6. Since it’s a next-generation game, it won’t run on older consoles (like the PS4 or Xbox One). Below are the possible technical requirements:
Console Requirements
Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game will initially be released only for the latest consoles.
PlayStation 5: The game will be optimized for PS5. It is expected to support 4K resolution and 30 FPS (or 60 FPS in performance mode).
Xbox Series X/S: While the best graphics are available on Series X, the game will run at a slightly lower resolution for Series S users.
PS5 Pro: Those who buy the PS5 Pro between 2025 and ’26 will likely get the smoothest gameplay and improved ray-tracing.
Potential PC Requirements
While the PC version is likely to arrive at least a year after the console release, a potential requirement can be estimated based on the game’s graphics:
| Parts | (Minimum – 1080p | Recommended – 1440p/4K |
| Processor (CPU) | Intel Core i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel Core i9-12900K / AMD Ryzen 9 5900X |
| Graphics (GPU) | NVIDIA RTX 2070 / RX 5700 XT | NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti / RX 7900 XT |
| RAM | 16 GB | 32 GB |
| Storage | 200 GB SSD | 200 GB NVMe SSD |
Personal opinion and gaming experience
As a tech enthusiast and gamer, I believe that GTA 6 is not just a game but will set the standard for the next 10 years of open-world gaming. Here are some key points from my long gaming experience:
Evolved Realism: For those of us who grew up playing the pixelated Vice City of 2002, this new look will be nostalgic and surprising at the same time. Rockstar Games’ ‘Lucia and Jason’ dynamic this time is very reminiscent of a modern-day ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ which will add depth to the story.
Importance of AI: In my opinion, the game’s strongest aspect will be its NPC interaction. In most games we play today, ordinary people behave more like robots. But the way social media feeds and human reactions are shown in GTA 6 will help to feel a living society within the game.
Hardware Challenges: From a technical perspective, running the game will be quite challenging for a regular PC. Especially for those who are still using HDDs, it is time to shift to SSDs. In my experience, to enjoy the details that Rockstar gives to their games (such as water waves or lighting), it is necessary to have at least a mid-range gaming PC or PS5.
Gameplay mechanics: For the first time, the game has added the facility to ‘lie down’ (prone) or ‘crawl’ (crawl), which will change the strategy of the mission a lot. Previously, we had to fight only standing or sitting; now we have to use more intelligence in stealth missions.
